Facilitation and Strategy Development
Kidango, Development and Communications Department
This four-month project began with retreat development and facilitation focused on helping staff unpack a newly commissioned and comprehensive Communications and Rebranding Launch Strategy and evolved into ongoing facilitation support to evaluate and prioritize strategic suggestions within the report.
Green Benefit District (GBD) of Dogpatch and Northwest Potrero Hill, Board of Directors
Designed and led an extended Board meeting for Directors. The session focused on brainstorming and prioritizing of ideas to create a two-to-three year project pipeline for the development of green and vibrant neighborhood spaces.
University of California Curriculum Integration (UCCI)
A Certified UCCI Facilitator, I led teams of educators and administrators through the process of developing engaging, robust courses that integrate academic subjects (A-G) with Career Technical Education (CTE), creating course content and resources for high school teachers across California.
Long Beach City College, Career Services Work Group
Provided strategic guidance to the Director of the Career Pathways Support Services and Career Services Work Group as they came together to create a comprehensive career services plan for the college. Facilitation focused on collaborative decision-making, evidence-based discussion, and the creation of clear action steps.
Cascade Canyon School, Board of Trustees
To support new and seasoned board members, provided guidance on meeting facilitation and constructive communications practices. I facilitated a special meeting of the Board to set up agreements around communication and develop plans for meeting the Board’s strategic goals.
Retreat Development and Facilitation
Second Harvest Food Bank, Supply Chain and Food Sourcing and Inventory Departments
Developed and facilitated a retreat for two closely connected departments to build stronger relationships among team members with a specific focus on understanding different conflict management styles and communicating effectively with colleagues across the wider organization.
Foothill College, Office of Financial Aid
Designed and led a retreat for staff members with a focus on improving team dynamics and setting the stage for a team reorganization.
Kidango, Operations Department
Supported the COO in her efforts to build stronger ties among the leaders of her department and prepare this group for upcoming strategic planning work by developing and leading a one-day retreat focused on team communications and expansion of problem-solving skills.
Khan Academy, Finance Department
Planned and facilitated a half-day workshop for remote employees coming together for on-site work. Activities focused on interpersonal connections and larger team collaboration.
Kidango, Finance Department
Supported a large team in their two-day off-site retreat by building an agenda focused on strengthening connections among this diverse group, assessing the department’s strengths and areas for improvement, and improving collaboration across internal teams.
City College of San Francisco, School of ESL, International Education, and Transitional Studies
Created an agenda and led activities for a staff retreat dedicated to enhancing collaboration, improving cross-department communications, and goal setting.
Professional Development and Content Expertise
Metro College Success Program (San Francisco State University and City College of San Francisco)
Co-led Metro’s Faculty Learning Community to foster high-quality, student-centered, social justice-oriented instruction. To support faculty from across the campus, designed curriculum, workshops, and trainings; co-facilitated Metro’s Summer Institute; and provided small group and individual coaching.
Working with a cadre of experts, supported pathway teams, schools, and districts with the Linked Learning Pathway Quality Review, Continuous Improvement and Certification Process. I evaluated evidence (program reviews, data, curriculum) intended to substantiate pathway quality, rigor, and fidelity; participated in comprehensive school site visits; and co-wrote and delivered a final report with recommendations for improvement and/or Linked Learning Certification.
Office of Refugee Resettlement, Dept. of Health and Human Services
Served as Chair for a $1.2 million Technical Assistance grant, overseeing a panel of reviewers and preparing reports for departmental approval; served as a reader for an $8 million employer engagement grant.
Project Management
Farming Hope (2020 – 2021)
Led hiring processes for multiple and varied positions: screened, interviewed, and assessed candidates. Co-wrote and edited grant proposals for general operations and special projects.
San Francisco Unified School District/Division of Curriculum and Instruction
Led project management work for 135 Arts, a campaign to build a world-class arts education center for SF students, with special emphasis on bridging the equity gap in arts education. The focus of the work was on development of a five-year plan to prototype the key elements of Mosaic, a program and resource center for expanding arts education opportunities for all students in the district.
Communications Workshops and Trainings
Foothill College, Office of Student Services
For the Associate VP of Student Services, developed a workshop for Foothill College staff on best practices of email communication.
Designed and delivered an interactive workshop, “Professional Communications in the Workplace,” for the diverse staff of the San Francisco office. Some of the topics covered: tailoring written messages for specific audiences, proofreading for outside stakeholders, and delivering effective elevator pitches.

Coached writers, doctors, and others preparing for book tours, speaking engagements, and live story-telling events including clients who have performed at The Nocturnists and been guests on KQED’s Forum.

Additional projects:
Content Expert: Our Children, Our Families Council (OCOF), San Francisco. In support of OCOF's work to improve outcomes for children, youth and families in San Francisco, I reviewed data about community-based organizations and their efforts to support SFUSD students. I assessed records of educational and career-focused programs against the OCOF Outcomes Framework, providing feedback on the named equity lenses and populations, neighborhoods, and communities served.
Curriculum Developer, Metro College Success Program, I collaborated with a small team to develop a College Success Skills curriculum for better integration of skills-based lessons with health education content. I created materials and resources that aligned a social justice pedagogy with instructor-friendly lessons.
Facilitator, Jobs for the Future (JFF) West Coast Office staff retreat.
Focus Group Facilitator, California Academy of Sciences (CAS). Working with Gibson and Associates, I led a group of K12 teachers and administrators in the evaluation of new CAS-created web-based professional development materials. I directed participants through evaluation of products developed to meet Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and led small group discussion of materials.
At Career Ladders Project, I provided professional development to a variety of faculty groups and facilitated many working meetings, sessions at convenings, and long-term sector-based collaborations. A few examples:
Co-facilitator, Engineering Technology Program Redesign, Long Beach City College. Worked with college administrators and faculty from Architecture and Mechanical Drafting, Trades and Industrial Technology, Electrical Technology, and Sheet Metal and Mechanical Maintenance to build out a cohesive and comprehensive new pathway in Engineering Technology
Co-facilitator, Professional Development workshops for faculty, Contra Costa College. Designed and led sessions for adjunct and full-time faculty in the Automotive Services Programs to support the program's focus on quality teaching.
Lead facilitator, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Digital Media (DM) Regional Pathway Action team, part of the work of the East Bay Career Pathways Consortium (an initiative of the California Career Pathways Trust). Led the development of a cross-institutional industry sector collaboration, bringing together ICT and DM faculty, content experts, and business professionals to meet the project’s goals and serving as a liaison between Consortium leadership and multiple technical assistance providers.
